The Google Gemini web application is an AI assistant that offers multimodal capabilities, meaning it can understand and generate text, images, audio and code. It's designed to be an interactive AI assistant that can help with various tasks and is free and available to all faculty, staff and students.
The Google Gemini app is connected to Google’s search engine and includes Deep Research, helpful for exploring complex topics and coming back with easy-to-read reports, and Gems, customized AI chat agents that you can create to help you with specific tasks or topics.
Despite the connection to Google, the Gemini app does not integrate with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, etc). ITS is continuing to investigate additional costs and potential security risks associated with these integrations.
